ABOUT THE COURSE

The Legion Basic Carbine Course is a beginner level, six-hour course that introduces students to the modern-day AR-15 or carbine of their choice. The overall theme will be an introduction of the combative fundamentals for the tactical employment of a carbine in high-risk settings. Students will learn confidence through the correct employment of their carbine platform while building the correct fundamentals and muscle memory necessary to employ the carbine effectively.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • safe weapon handling skills and muzzle awareness
  • familiarity with personal gear and optimized gear placement
  • the Fighter’s mentality, stance, movement and balance
  • multiple aiming and firing techniques
  • effective combat marksmanship skills at close range
  • fighting skills to achieve an optimum balance of accuracy and speed
  • multiple shooting positions designed for quick reaction to threats
  • correction of weapons malfunctions using economy of motion
  • tactical reloading techniques and drills
  • emphasis of situational awareness

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • serviceable carbine, AR15 platform recommended
  • adjustable sling system, tactical sling recommended
  • serviceable iron sights
  • cleaning kit with quality lubrication
  • 400 rounds of serviceable ammunition (no steel cased ammunition, please)
  • 3 serviceable 30-round magazines minimum
  • proper range attire appropriate for the season and weather (absolutely no shorts or open toe shoes)
  • ability to carry 2 magazines on your body (chest rig, etc.)
  • hearing protection and ballistic eye protection
  • snacks, student preference
  • hydration (i.e. camel back, bottled water, supplemental electrolytes)
  • head gear, baseball cap type recommended
  • red dot optic (optional)
